Getting started
From the download to your first scan in a few minutes: install Draftlist, enter your key, pick your project folders and let macOS give it access.
Draftlist runs on macOS 13.3 (Ventura) or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. One download works on both. You need a licence key to open it.
Install
- Open the Draftlist disk image (
.dmg). - Drag Draftlist onto the Applications folder in the same window.
- Open Draftlist from Applications.
If you open Draftlist straight from the disk image, it asks Move Draftlist to Applications? Press Move to Applications. Draftlist copies itself there and opens the copy. It has to live in Applications to update itself.
Note During the beta, macOS may say it could not verify Draftlist. Click Done, then open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click Open Anyway. You only do this once per build.
Enter your licence key
- Draftlist opens on its welcome. Press Get started.
- Paste your key into Licence key. It is in your receipt email, and on your purchases page.
- Draftlist shows Thanks, you're in. Press Set up your library.
There is no account and no password. Pro and your licence has more on keys, Macs and checks.
The first scan
Draftlist asks Where are your projects?
- Press Add folder, or drag folders onto the window. Draftlist suggests the usual places it finds on your Mac, such as Music, Desktop and Documents. Click a suggestion to add it.
- Each folder shows how many projects are in it.
- Press Scan.
Draftlist reads your sets where they are. It never moves or changes them. You don't need to add your plugin folders or Live's User Library: Draftlist reads them from their usual places.
The scan shows the projects, plugins and samples it finds as it goes, and about how long is left. You can press Stop at any time and scan the rest later.
Let macOS give Draftlist access
macOS asks before any app reads your Desktop, Documents or Downloads folder, or a folder in iCloud Drive or Dropbox. The question reads like "Draftlist would like to access files in your Desktop folder."
Click Allow. Draftlist only reads your projects and samples where they are, so it can list them and play them.
If you clicked Don't Allow, Draftlist skips that folder and says so. To fix it later, open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Files & Folders ▸ Draftlist and turn the folder on. Then press Scan. Troubleshooting has the details.
Your library is ready
When the scan is done, Draftlist shows Your library is ready! with how many projects, plugins and samples it found.
- Open Projects shows every set in one list. See Projects.
- Browse samples shows every sample your projects use. See Samples.
- Add another folder adds more places to scan.
Take the tour
Next, Draftlist offers Want a quick tour? Press Yes, show me for seven quick stops (eight with Pro): your library, the project list, search, ranking, the details panel, playlists and Curations, and keeping it current.
You can take it again any time from Help ▸ Take the Tour, or Settings ▸ General ▸ Take the tour again.
Keep it current
Draftlist keeps your library up to date by itself. When you save a set in Live, Draftlist re-reads it a few seconds later. To pick up everything at once, press Scan in the top bar.
To add or remove folders, open Settings ▸ Folders. See Settings.
