Privacy and your data
What Draftlist reads, where it keeps its library, what it writes and when, and the few things that go online.
Draftlist runs on your Mac. It has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Your projects, samples and library never leave your Mac.
What Draftlist reads
- Your Ableton Live projects (
.alsfiles) and the files they point to: samples, plugins and presets. - Live's own settings, to find your User Library and the folders in Live's browser.
- Your plugin folders, and Serum's preset folders for Presets Pro.
What it never changes
Draftlist only reads your projects. It never writes inside your Ableton project folders, and it never changes your samples. A playlist copies your picks; the originals stay where they are.
Where its library lives
Everything Draftlist learns is kept in its own library on your Mac:
~/Library/Application Support/Draftlist
Your licence is kept there too. Settings ▸ Library ▸ Library database shows the file, with Reveal. The window's view settings (column layouts, filters, text size) are kept in ~/Library/WebKit/app.draftlist.desktop, and its log in ~/Library/Logs/app.draftlist.desktop.
What it writes, and when
Draftlist writes only when you ask it to:
- Sample playlists and a curation's Copy files copy the sounds into a folder of their own, in your Music folder.
- Copy to Serum Pro puts your presets in one Draftlist folder inside Serum's presets. It never touches Serum's own folders.
- Download fetches an online-only project, or a cloud sample when you press play.
- Install Coming puts a Collections chain in the folder you chose.
What goes online
- The licence check: your key and a label for this Mac (its model and a random code, never its serial number or its name). See Pro and your licence.
- The update check: a request for the latest version. Nothing about you or your library is in it. See Updates.
- Report a bug opens your own mail app. Nothing is sent until you press Send there. See Troubleshooting.
Audio analysis and sound sorting run on your Mac too. Nothing is uploaded.
Removing Draftlist
Deactivate this Mac first in Settings ▸ Licence, so its place is free for another Mac. Then move Draftlist to the Trash and delete the folders named above.
